Solo Piano & Other Stuff
While I frequently use keyboards to write music, I don't typically write and record exclusively piano pieces. I have a lot of ideas started, fragments, bits, and pieces, but not many finished. I love the piano, I really do, simply because it's the most complete and expressive solo instrument there is. I find that I listen to pianists far more than I do to guitarists, with Lyle Mays probably topping my list of favorites. And as much as I love playing the piano, to be truthful, I don't have the discipline to practice enough to maintain my chops, so guitar remains my primary instrument. But sometimes, sometimes, I just get the bug up my arse, and I'll start on an idea and it won't leave my head until it's completed and my fingers hurt. I actually don't like getting consumed in this manner, but it's how I've always been in most aspects of my life. I'm not sure it's healthy lol. Anyway, I'll be adding content to this section as it comes to pass. I hope you enjoy it.
Sometimes things happen in life stir strong emotions and one of the ways that some people deal with strong emotions is through music, either by listening or creating. In my case, I fall under the latter. 15 years ago at this writing, my shop cat KeeKee had a litter of four kittens, two males, two females. Although we already had 2 house cats, plus KeeKee, we just couldn't split them up and give them away, so we kept them. My wife and I are cat people, and I bond heavily to my cats. The short version is that recently Blackie, one of the males, had to be put down due to cancer. Blackie was a giant of a cat, biggest cat I ever saw, huge sabre teeth that didn't even fit in his mouth, large claws, incredibly strong, could jump to the moon, athletic and graceful. He wouldn't let anybody touch him, but was a gentle giant to us and has left a hole in our lives.
